Deodorants
Most Deodorants and Antiperspirants are found to contain chemical ingredients such as parabens, triclosan, phthalates, and aluminum. These are four key ingredients we avoid in the products we support at ECO CRATES of America.
Research has linked them to several medical conditions, including types of cancer and reproductive development issues. While no consistent data confirms the direct harms of each ingredient, we believe it safer to avoid them altogether for the following reasons.
PARABENS – Endocrine Disruptor mimics hormones and is commonly found in breast cancer patients.
PHTHALATES – Another endocrine disruptor created to strengthen plastics. It also creates a lasting bond to the skin when added to personal care products. Since they have been linked to asthma, ADHD, breast cancer, obesity, autism spectrum disorders, altered reproductive development, male fertility issues, and other issues, this is just another no for us.
TRICLOSAN – A pesticide that is also used to kill bacteria. No pesticides for my body, thank you. Unfortunately, once water is added to triclosan, it has a chemical reaction creating a carcinogenic gas called chloroform. I prefer a safer alternative not to stink.
ALUMINUM – Aluminum, like parabens, has been found in the breast tissue of cancer patients. It has also been linked to Alzheimer’s. I’d instead not take the chance if I don’t have to. I prefer aluminum free and only carry brands that feel the same way.
