USE

1. WET AND WRING

STEP 1: WET THE BAG, THEN WRING IT OUT.

Vejibags establish a moist, breathable environment for your produce. First, wet the bag and wring it out so it is damp.

 

2. RINSE AND SHAKE

STEP 2: RINSE VEGETABLES.

Rinse your vegetables carefully, remove damaged areas, and gently shake off any excess water. If you’re washing lettuces or greens, there’s no need to spin. Let your Vejibag do the work!

 

 

3. STORE AND ENJOY!

STEP 3: STORE AND DAMPEN AS NECESSARY.

Store in the refrigerator’s main compartment or a slightly opened crisper drawer. When the bag dries out after several days, re-wet slightly by running it briefly under the faucet, vegetables and all.

CARE

VEJIBAGS ARE MACHINE WASHABLE AND DRYABLE

Turn Vejibags inside out, and machine wash with fragrance-free detergent. Hang in the sun to dry or machine dry; expect 10% shrinkage the first time as this is a 100% cotton bag!

If your bag gets stained, you can safely remove most stains with oxygen bleach or make your own environmentally friendly stain remover solution with 1 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 2 Tablespoons of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda. Add enough hot water to the hydrogen peroxide/washing soda solution to cover the bag and let sit for 24 hours.

Sally Erickson created Vejibag out of necessity in 2013. Sally needed to keep veggies as fresh as possible when harvested from her year-round Eastport, Maine greenhouse until customers took them home from the local co-op market. And she wanted to do that without creating plastic waste or using toxic chemicals. So while conventional plastic bags and boxes suffocate vegetables by trapping stale air and ethylene gas, our wet cotton bag keeps moisture-loving vegetables alive and crisp in high humidity, breathable environment. Our vegetable storage bags use 100% organic french terry cotton, grown by the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative, and hand-sewn by employee-owned Opportunity Threads, in Morganton, North Carolina.

The Vejibag is now a top seller in eco-conscious and zero-waste shops across the US.

Dishwasher safe

Safe to wash in the dishwasher on both top and bottom racks.

Microwave safe

Yes! Zip Top containers are entirely microwave-safe*. And unlike plastics, they don’t contain BPA, lead, phthalates, or PVC that can leach into your food when heated. Zip Top containers won’t warp or melt in the microwave. 

*Remember to open a corner before microwaving and be careful when the contents are hot.

Freezer safe

indy Jantz is the founder of The Herb Garden.  Here is her story, in her own words:

There were three things that propelled me into making soap.

About 20 years ago my niece was hospitalized in very serious condition. When she was released, her nutritionist explained that when you put something into your body that your body can’t use (chemicals, etc) your immune system has to deal with that and hers was already overloaded. She was advised to watch not only what she put into her body but also what she put on her skin. I was intrigued and began researching what was in my skin-care products.

I was struggling with skin issues of my own and had begun experimenting with natural ingredients. At the same time I had planted an herb garden and began learning about the value of herbs.

When I first started making soap it was so much fun, I just kept trying new recipes and new ingredients. I quickly realized that we were accumulating more soap than we would ever use so I gave it away to my friends. That was the start of my business as friends returned asking if they could buy soap.

I love making soap. I love creating products that look beautiful. I love how my skin feels. I love helping people improve their skin and clear some of the unhealthy products out of their life.
